A new year, some new faces, but the same goal remains for
CVCA Hockey year after year. The Royals focus on living out Romans 12:1 both on and off the ice each year. Coach
Doug Fairchild enters his
10th season leading the
CVCA Hockey program. He knows the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead and can't wait to start competing on the ice. "As we graduate outstanding student leaders, seeing the younger players step up and grow into those leadership roles as servant leaders is a pure joy as a coach."
Last season, the Royals finished the year 15-15-1 but a memorable run through the Baron Cup is something the team will never forget.
CVCA got hot at the right time and went on to win the Baron Cup III Championship. Returning from a season ago are 10 letter winners. Seniors
Bayley McRitchie,
John Rybka, and
Ryan O'Connor join juniors
Christian Beckett and
Zach Miller as the returning veterans. Also back this year are sophomores
Stephen Griffith,
Dylan Ferrari,
Jack Perrotta,
Tyler Stoltz, and
Ethan Wedo. Five new members join the squad in 2017-18.
Daniel Griffith,
Jaxson Bernkopf,
JT Nichols,
Gabe Dearden, and
Sam Porter round out the Royals' roster this season.
The Royals are once again members of the Greater Cleveland High School Hockey League's Blue Division. The schedule will feature the Junior Jacks tournament,
CVCA Christmas tournament, Parma MLK tournament, and end of season Baron Cup tournament.
CVCA will host North Canton Hoover in their home opener on Friday, December 8th at 7:10pm at Kent State University. You can follow the Royals on both Twitter and Facebook this season.
