Often times in sports, the final score doesn't tell the whole story of the game. That was the case on Monday night for the CVCA girls soccer team. The 4th seeded Royals traveled to Copley to face the #1 seeded Indians. The two teams met earlier in the regular season with Copley winning 2-0. This time there was much more on the line with the winner advancing to the District Final. The Indians struck first with an early goal. They added a 2nd on a counter attack, and the Royals trailed by 2. With just 2 seconds left before hafltime,
Erin Venus connected with
Payton Fraley who slid the ball past the Copley goalkeeper. After 40 mintues, the Royals trailed 2-1 but seemed to grab the momentum with the late goal. CVCA kept the pressure on to start the 2nd half. Their attack kept building and the visitors were waiting for that tying goal. Instead, Copley again connect on a counter attack and moved ahead by 2 goals. CVCA continued to fight, but Copley was able to pull away late. The Royals fell by a score of 5-1. They finish the season at 11-6-1.
