The CVCA boys lacrosse traveled to Green on Tuesday night for their 7th game of the season. The Royals won an exciting game in overtime by a score of 7-6. The boys are now 7-0 on the season. They will travel to Hoban on Friday night.
CVCA fell by behind by a score of 5-0 in this game. The offense tried to get going but hit the pipes 4 times. The Royals broke through with 2 third quarter goals and trailed 6-2. The defense stood tall in the final quarter allowing no goals just 6 shots and only 3 on goal. Goalie
Cord Steigmeier finished the night with 18 saves. The offense was clicking in the 4th quarter as they scored just about every two minutes of play. CVCA was able to pull even with Green with just over 3 minutes to play. The 4th quarter ended at 6-6 so overtime was needed. In overtime, The Royals faceoff unit led by Elli Perrotta did a great job of forcing a 50/50 ball at the faceoff whistle. LSM
Calvin Warren made a critical decision to shield a loose ball off of Green out of bounds, winning CVCA possession with a dead ball restart. The faceoff unit immediately subbed for the offensive middies and captain Micheal Joyce went to pick up the ball for the restart. On the restart whistle, Joyce immediately broke infield carrying the ball to the CVCA offensive half and the coach called timeout. On the restart, CVCA got into their settled offense and after executing multiple passes and motions got one of their scouted match-ups. Lefty
Nick Gage at the top left with the desired Green D pole. Gage dodged, working to his right and then back to his left where he got his hands free and buried a 14 yard low bouncer for the win at 4:08 in OT. The entire team executed in order to achieve a 6 unanswered goal comeback from a 1-6 deficit to a 7-6 OT win.
