The CVCA boys soccer team hosted Elyria Catholic on Saturday night in their first game of the 2025 OHSAA Tournament. The Royals defeated EC during the regular season and were looking to advance past the Panthers with another victory. With just over one minute to play in the first half, CVCA scored the game's first goal. Alex Ott volleyed a cross past the keeper to put the Royals in front. Early in the second half, Nick Linaburg fired a shot past the EC keeper to put CVCA in front by two. Halfway through the 2nd half, Elyria Catholic scored to make the score 2-1. The Royals defended a late free kick by Elyria Catholic and immediately went on the counter attack. Nick Linaburg scored his second goal of the night with just over one minute to play. They secured the 3-1 victory to advance in the tournament. The Royals have now won their last 6 games and are unbeaten in their last 13 games. CVCA will host Kenston on Thursday, October 23rd at 7:00pm in the District Semifinal.
