On Saturday night, the CVCA girls basketball team faced off against Ellet in the OHSAA District Championship at Perry High School. The Royals started fast and grabbed and early lead. They were able to hold off Ellet in the first half and led 24-14 at the break. Late in the third quarter, Ellet made a run and CVCA was feeling the pressure. Their lead was trimmed to just two points, but the girls never surrendered. They responded strong to finish the third quarter and pushed their lead back to 10 points. CVCA secured the win and the district championship with a solid 4th quarter performance. This is the 3rd District Title in program history with all three coming in the last 5 years. Senior Joi Williams led all scorers with 35 points and broke the record for most points scored in CVCA history (Story). The Royals will now face Brush in the Regional Semifinal on Thursday, February 27th. That game will be played a 8:00pm at the Canton Memorial Fieldhouse.
