The CVCA hockey team faced off against NDCL on Monday in the Baron Cup III opener. The winner would advance to face top seed Westlake. The Royals started fast and led 2-0 after the first period. Neither team scored in the 2nd period of play as Ryan Cogan played very well in goal for CVCA. NDCL scored early in the 3rd period of play to pull within one. They added a 2nd goal in the 3rd period to force overtime. This highly contested game ended with an NDCL goal on a breakaway with 2:35 left in overtime. A tough loss for the Royals as they move to 8-13-2 on the season.
