On Saturday, the CVCA boys basketball team faced off against St. Vincent-St. Mary in the championship game of the OHSAA Division III Northeast 5 District. The Royals and Irish met at Strongsville High School for the title game. During the regular season, STVM was able to defeat CVCA in a hard fought game. This rematch was sure to be a good one. The first quarter was up and down with both teams playing fast and very few stoppages. The Irish held a 5 point lead at 23-18 at the end of the first quarter of play. From that point on, the story was the CVCA defense. The Royals made everything difficult for the Irish offense. CVCA flipped the score after a 20-10 advantage in the 2nd quarter. STVM was then held scoreless through the first half of 3rd quarter as the Royals increased their lead. The fourth quarter was more of the same. CVCA was able to get to the basket to score while the Irish struggled to get good shots. The Royals secured an impressive 72-54 win to claim the District Championship. CVCA held STVM to just 31 points during the final three quarters of play. The Royals' offense was led by 19 points from
