CVCA falls to Canfield

Royals fall to Canfield 1-4

The Royals lost in a hard fought battle with the Canfield Cardinals 4-1 at the Kent State Ice Arena this afternoon. The teams battled to a 0-0 tie entering the 2nd period when the Cardinals struck twice in the 2nd period to take a 2-0 lead into the 3rd period. The third period started out well for the Royals, who carried the play for large portions of the game, when Josh Polanski scored on great individual effort to bring the Royals to within a goal at 2-1. The comeback was short lived as Cardinals struck quickly to reestablish their 2 goal lead. They added another goal to close out the game at 4-1. Brooks Montgomery stopped 20 of 24 shots and gave his team a chance to win with his strong play. The game was more closely played than the score would indicate but the Cardinals were able to capitalize on their opportunities where the Royals struggled to put the puck in the net. Bayley McRitchie (pictured) was named the Royal of The Game and awarded The Crown.
