The CVCA Hockey team competed in Parma' MLK tournament over the weekend. All three of the Royals' games were played at Michael A. Ries Ice Rink in Parma. CVCA finished 1-2 for the tournament.
The Royals opened tournament play on Saturday night. They faced off against Archbishop Alter from Kettering, Ohio. The Knights entered the game with a strong reputation, but the Royals weren't going to back down. CVCA played tough but couldn't generate enough offense in this one. They fell by a score of 3-1.
Noah Polanski scored the lone goal for the Royals.
Brooks Montgomery allowed just 3 goals on 41 shots.
CVCA played Sunday afternoon in their second game of the tournament. This time they faced a familiar foe in North Canton Hoover. The Royals and Vikings are league opponents and were facing off for the 3rd time this season. CVCA continued to hold the advantage over Hoover and won this game 5-2. They are now 3-0 against the Vikings on the year.
Christian Beckett led the way for CVCA with 2 goals.
Hayden Dickerson,
Noah Polanski, and
Jack Perrotta each added a goal.
The third and final game for CVCA was scheduled for Monday afternoon. The Royals matched up with tournament host Parma in this one. Parma proved to be a strong team. CVCA battled once again but struggle to find the back of the net.
Hayden Dickerson's 1st period goal would be the only scoring for the Royals. They fell by a score of 4-1. The Royals defense played solid in the tournament allowing just 9 goals in 3 games.
