It wasn't always pretty, but CVCA moved to 7-0 in conference play on Friday night. The Royals defeated the Mustangs of Tuslaw High School by a final score of 48-46. CVCA maintained a small advantage throughout the first half despite some sloppy play. When the opportunities present themselves, CVCA couldn't pull away from Tuslaw. After trailing by 4 at halftime, the Mustangs quickly grabbed a lead in the 3rd quarter. A combination of turnovers and 3 point shots left the Royals trailing 36-33 entering the 4th quarter. The Royals were still trailing with only a few minutes left, when they put on full court pressure. That pressure forced Tuslaw to turn the ball over, and the Royals regained the lead after a mini run. CVCA would hold on down the stretch, and Tuslaw's final shot was no where close.
Ryan Foguth led the Royals with 14 points.
Terrell Hicks was a major factor late in the game with 8 points and strong post defense. The Royals will host Orrville on Tuesday night as they begin the second round of Principals' Athletic Conference play.
