Just two days after meeting in the Baron Cup Final, CVCA and Aurora met again on the ice. This time it was the opening round of the OHSAA State Tournament. Both teams entered Tuesday night's game at less than full strength after giving their all in the Baron Cup. The first period saw more goals than the entire previous game as Aurora led 3-2.
Bayley McRitchie continued his scoring tear with both of CVCA's goals in the 1st.
Christian Beckett was able to tie things up at 3 in the second period. The game would remain tied at the end of the third period, and overtime was again needed to determine the winner between these 2 schools. On this night, one overtime period wasn't enough. The Royals and Greenmen played into double overtime before
Christian Beckett ended the game with his 2nd goal of the night. It was a gutsy performance by the Royals on the defensive side of the puck, and they held strong after giving up 3 first period goals. CVCA advances to face Walsh Jesuit on Saturday, February 18th. The puck will drop at 5:15pm at Kent State.
