The CVCA boys basketball team hosted 1st place Northwest on Friday night. The Royals' game plan was to slow the game down and win a low scoring game. They were able to control the pace of the game but trailed throughout. The boys gave everything thing they had and things started going CVCA's way. Thanks to multiple stops down the stretch and some big baskets of their own, it was a one possession game with just seconds left. Both teams traded turnovers and CVCA gained possession with 2.1 seconds left, down by 3. Senior
Elijah Payne's buzzer beater from just inside half court was nothing but net and the Royals were able to force overtime. In overtime, the Royals rode that momentum to an 8-0 run. They would go on to win 38-30 and stay right in the thick of the PAC-7 race.
