The CVCA baseball trip made the trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina over spring break to participate in the Mingo Bay Classic. The trip feature 4 games for the Royals including their season opener.
The Royals earned an 11-2 win over Socastee (SC) in their first game. Five different Royals recorded more than 1 hit in this game.
Taylor Sobiech led the way with 2 hits and 3 RBI. He also pitched 4 innings to earn the win.
Drew Wilson and
Josh Thacker both recorded 3 hits on the day.
On Tuesday, the Royals fell to Forsythe Country Day (NC). CVCA held a 3-0 lead after 3 innings, but the Furries would score 10 runs in the final 4 innings to take a 10-3 win.
Josh Thacker led CVCA with 2 hits and 2 runs scored.
In Wednesday's game, CVCA faced a very good Highland (VA) team.
Drew Wilson started for the Royals and went 6 innings allowing just 1 run while striking out 7. Seven innings was enough in this one. Highland would earn a 2-1 win in the 9th inning.
Josh Thacker recorded 2 hits for CVCA.
The Royals would once again fall by the score of 2-1 on Thursday, this time to Faith Christian (PA). CVCA struggled to get things going in this one. Despite an early 1-0 lead, the Royals couldn't add on and 2 late runs ended the game.
CVCA looks to bounce back on Monday, April 2nd when they travel to Triway.
