The CVCA baseball team hosted Norton on Saturday for a traditional doubleheader. Both the Royals and Panthers were looking to catch up on games and the weather provided the perfect day to do so. The Royals took game 1 behind a strong pitching performance by Freshman John Harabedian. He went five innings allowing just 1 run. Seniors Tyler Wise and Andrew Hendrickx led the offense with 3 hits a piece. In game 2, CVCA jumped ahead with a four run first inning capped by a 2 run home run by Junior Otto Rogers. The Royals added 3 in the 2nd to lead 7-0. Norton answered with 2 in the third and 1 in the fourth to cut CVCA's lead to 7-3. The Royals offense answered again with a 3 run fourth inning to again lead by 7. Norton was able to score 4 runs in the fifth inning and the battle was on at 10-7. CVCA added an insurance run in the sixth and held on for the 11-8 victory. Sophomore Luke Wiggers picked up the win pitching the games final two innings. Sophomore Joey Lehner had 3 hits including two doubles. Junior Otto Rogers and Trevor Vojtkfsky each had two hits and four runs batted in. CVCA will host Triway on Monday night. Both teams will enter the game unbeaten in conference play.
