On Thursday night, the CVCA baseball team played in a State Semifinal game for the first time in program history. The Royals faced Bishop Watterson in the Division III contest at Munson Stadium in Canton. A shaky start put CVCA in an early hole. Bishop Watterson took advantage of a couple defensive miscues to score 4 runs in the first inning. The Royals were able to settle in after that, but the damage had been done. CVCA's offense would scatter hits throughout the night, but only push across one run.
Alex Mammone singled in
Peyton Drabick in the 2nd inning. Bishop Watterson would only score one additional run on the night against CVCA's relievers. CVCA would fall by a score of 5-1 to wrap up a historic season. The team finished the year 23-10 and claimed the first Regional Title in program history.
