The CVCA boys basketball team hosted Coventry on Friday in OHSAA Tournament action. It was the second round of tournament play but the first game for the Royals after an opening bye. The Royals and Comets both struggled to score early in this game. CVCA led 12-11 at the end of the first quarter and dominated the 2nd quarter to lead 35-13 at the half. The boys continued to outpace Coventry in the second half on their way to a 63-30 win. With the win, the team advances to District play. They will face Shaw on Thursday at Louisville High School. In the win over Coventry, Sophomore Darryn Peterson broke the single season scoring record. He now has 651 career points and counting.
