The CVCA boys basketball team traveled to Akron on Tuesday night to face the Fighting Irish of St. Vincent-St. Mary. The Royals knew they were in for a test as STVM is and has been one of the top teams in area. CVCA led 16-13 at the end of the first quarter. The Irish pulled in front and led 31-27 at halftime. The 2nd half stay tight and the Royals kept themselves in striking distance. This game went down to the wire in thrilling fashion. CVCA went up 1, then down 1, then up 1 again all within the games final seconds. STVM had the ball last, but the Royals were able to hold on to an impressive 66-65 road win. Chayce Brantley scored the winning basket after an offensive rebound with less than 10 seconds left. Senior Niles Nuru led the way for CVCA with 22 points. The boys next game will come at home on Friday night when they host Holy Name.
