The CVCA hockey team wrapped up 2024 with a weekend to remember. The Royals hosted the CVCA Christmas Tournament Friday through Monday at the Dan Kostel Recreation Center. The tournament featured 8 teams and 16 games. In the end, CVCA was able to win the tournament for the third consecutive year. They opened the tournament with a 5-4 win over Kilbourne. They cruised to victories over Aurora (7-0) and Avon (6-2) to secure a spot in the championship game. In the final game, they faced a Kenston team that beat them in overtime earlier this season. On Monday night, the Royals were the better side and claimed a 3-2 win for the tournament title. Another highlight of the weekend came in the form of a coaching milestone. Coach
Doug Fairchild registered his 250th win at CVCA in Sunday's win over Avon. Senior
Cord Steigmeier earned Tournament MVP honors for the Royals.
