Another outstanding season of tennis at CVCA came to an end this weekend. The Royals were represented by
Delanie Moore,
Joy Saffles, and
Grace Saffles at the Division II District Tournament this past weekend.
Grace Saffles and
Joy Saffles won their round of 16 match against NDCL 7-5 6-1 to advance to the state qualifying quarterfinal round. They played very well, but fell to Orange 6-0 7-5. That loss put them in the back draw to seek the 5th and final state qualifying spot. They won their first back draw match against Chippewa 7-6 7-5, but came up short against Hathaway Brown 6-1 6-0 in the 5th place match. This means, though they didn't qualify for states, they took 6th place in the district.
Joy Saffles finishes her CVCA tennis career as a two-time district qualifier.
Grace Saffles finishes her junior year as a three-time district qualifier.
Delanie Moore played a great match, but lost 7-5 6-2 to her round of 16 opponent from Hathaway Brown. She is now a two-time district qualifier as a sophomore.
