The Royals competed in the Sectional Tournament last week in Boardman. This is the first step in the individual state tournament. CVCA able to advance three players to the Disitrict Tournament.
Delanie Moore finished as Sectional Runner-up in singles and the doubles team of
Grace Saffles and
Joy Saffles also finished as Sectional Runners-up. They will compete on Friday in the District Tournament at Springside.
Delanie Moore defeated opponents from Canfield, Crestwood, and Struthers without dropping a single game to qualify for districts!
Delanie Moore won her semi-final match against the 2 seed in the tournament from Canfield, 4-6 6-4 6-4 in an incredibly close competition. Exhausted, she lost in the final 6-2 6-0 to the top seeded player, also from Canfield and finished as the sectional runner-up.
Grace Saffles and
Joy Saffles defeated opponents from Warren JFK, St. John, and Southeast, dropping no more than 2 games in any set to qualify for districts!
Grace Saffles and
Joy Saffles won their semi-final match against the number 3 seeded team from Ursuline 7-5 6-0. They lost in the final 6-1 6-1 to the top seeded team, also from Ursuline. They also finish as sectional runners-up.
Lily Siemen defeated the second singles player from Salem in the first round 7-5, 6-1, then progressed past the second round by defeating her opponent from McDonald 6-2 6-1. In the district-qualifying round, she lost to the second seeded player in the tournament from Canfield to cap off a good tournament run.
Brooke Raymond played hard, but lost to the top singles player from Salem in 3 sets in the first round.
The doubles team of
Kirstin Berkes and
Bella Khalil progressed past their first round opponents from Cardinal Mooney 6-0 6-0 before falling to the fourth seeded team in the tournament from Canfield in round two after a hard fought match.
