The CVCA hockey team opened the 2025-26 season on the road on Friday night. The Royals faced off against Chagrin Falls at The Pond. CVCA was able to grab an early lead and led 2-0 at the end of the first period. The Tigers put together a strong second period to pull in front by a score of 4-3. The game's final minutes were full of excitement. With just under 10 minutes left, the Royals were able to pull even. The score remained tied as the game entered the final two minutes of the third period. Freshman Evan Cannone scored with 1:11 remaining to give CVCA a 5-4 lead. Chagrin Falls answered with a tying goal with 35 seconds left. Cannone responded right back and scored the game winning goal with just 18 seconds left on the clock. Outside of the second period, the CVCA defense played well. Ryan Cogan recorded 30 saves in goal for the Royals. It was a thrilling 6-5 win for the Royals to open what is sure to be an exciting season.
