The CVCA boys soccer team is headed to the Final Four as Regional Champions. The Royals faced off against Marlington on Sunday in Ravenna in the Region 10 Championship. CVCA was able to score first in this game. Senior Nick Myers beat the Marlington keeper and a Dukes defend to a long ball played from the back by Eli Cherry. He touched over the goalie and into the goal for the 1-0 lead less than 8 minutes into the game. The Royals held the one goal lead until halfway through the 2nd half of play. Nick Myers scored again for CVCA as they moved in front 2-0. Nick Linaburg's corner kick found Cherry in the middle of the box who headed the ball down to the feet of Myers. Nick kicked it in to continue an impressive goal scoring run. From that point, the Marlington attack picked up their pace. The Dukes found a goal off a long free kick. The ball went off the head of a CVCA defender and in with just over 10 minutes to play. The intensity continued to rise as the game enter the final minutes. The Royals defense held on for the 2-1 victory and secured the Regional Title. This is the 11th Regional Championship in program history. With the win, CVCA advances to the State Semifinal round in Division III. They will face Aurora on Wednesday, November 5th at 7:00pm at Tallmadge High School.
