On Wednesday morning, CVCA senior Joey Kopec signed to continue his academic and football careers at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Joey has been a standout player for the Royals over his four year career. He earned 1st team All-Conference honors each of his four season and was the 2025 NCC Defensive Player of the Year. Kopec also earned 1st team All-District honors four times and was twice named District Defensive Player of the Year (2025, 2024). Joey was named 2nd team All-State in 2022, 3rd team All-State in 2023, and 1st team All-State in 2024. He is inline for All-State honors again in 2025, but they have not yet been announced. He helped guide the Royals to the best season in program history in 2025. They started the season 12-0 and secured their first ever Regional Championship. Joey Kopec's impact went far beyond the scoreboard, but the team compiled an impressive 37-11 record the last four years (22-4 the last two) behind the play and leadership of Joey and his classmates.
