The CVCA boys basketball made the trip to Brush on Wednesday night for a Division III District Semifinal. The Royals faced off against the host Arcs in an absolute battle from start to finish. Both teams were fighting hard to keep their season alive. CVCA was able to hold some leads early but couldn't create much separation from the Brush squad. The Arcs moved in front and led by one point entering the 4th quarter of play. After a few five point leads by Brush, CVCA as able to pull even with just over 2 minutes left to play. The Arcs hit two free throws to move back in front. With the clock winding down, Brush split a pair of free throws to push the lead to three. CVCA answered with a quick basket and trailed by one with 13 seconds remaining. Another split at the line gave CVCA a chance. The Royals were unable to convert on the next possession. Brush would secure a 54-51 win to advance. The loss ends the season for CVCA. They finish the year 16-8 overall and add another conference championship to the history books.
