The CVCA baseball team traveled to Holy Name on Monday. The Green Wave play their home games at Tri-C West in Cleveland. The Royals fell behind in the first as Holy Name scored once after a few defensive miscues. CVCA scored twice in the 3rd inning to grab a 2-1 lead. Connor McGough singled in Nik Wirsching before Ryan Wiehe drove in McGough. In the bottom of the 3rd inning, Holy Name manufactured a run to tie things up. A Ryan Wiehe RBI ground-out put the Royals back in front in the 5th inning. They added an insurance run in the 6th inning when Zac Anderson scored on an Evan Wensel sacrifice fly. Kyle Shaw got the win after going four innings allowing just 1 earned run. Alex Mammone pitched three scoreless inning to earn the save in the 4-2 win. CVCA is now 5-3 (2-0) on the season. Holy Name will travel to CVCA on Tuesday.
