On Friday, the CVCA baseball team hosted Walsh Jesuit in the first round of the Cuyahoga Falls City Championship. Strong pitching was the story in this game. Junior Kyle Shaw held the Warriors scoreless for 5 innings. Senior Ryan Wiehe broke the 0-0 tie with a RBI double in the bottom of the 6th inning to give the Royals a 1 run lead. Sophomore Alex Mammone closed the door on the highly ranked Warriors with 2 shutout innings for the save. CVCA earned the 1-0 win to improve their record to 3-2. The Royals will face Woodridge in the CF City Championship on a date to be determine. The boys are set to host Padua on Monday.
