The CVCA baseball team traveled up to Chardon on Friday evening to face Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin. It was a big conference game for both the Royals and Lions as they each entered the game with just one conference loss. CVCA was able to play a strong all around game and secure a 9-1 victory. Senior
Nik Wirsching earned the win on the mound (5 IP, 0 ER, 4 Ks). Sophomore
Alex Mammone finished the game on the mound as the two CVCA pitchers combined for a 1-hitter. The Royals open their scoring in the first inning.
Jonah Gaudio scored on a RBI ground-out by
Ryan Wiehe. In the 2nd,
Nik Wirsching singled with 2 outs to score
Zac Anderson. Two batters later,
Jacob Lancy singled in Wirsching and CVCA led 3-0. The Royals extended their lead in the 3rd inning with two more runs.
Alex Mammone doubled in
John Harabedian and Mammone later scored on an error by NDCL.
Connor McGough scored on a double by
Ryan Wiehe in the 4th inning and CVCA led 6-0. NDCL scored an unearned run in the 5th but the Royals answered with a run in the 6th and two in the 7th.

Alex Mammone and
Daniel Walker. It was a big road win for CVCA as they improved to 13-6 (7-1). The Royals now have a one game lead in the North Coast Conference with two games to play. They will host Elyria Catholic on Monday night.
