Baseball defeats EC, clinches at least a share of NCC title

The CVCA baseball team hosted Elyria Catholic on Monday evening. The Royals played a great game all around and secured a 10-0 victory in six innings. With the win, CVCA moved to 14-6 overall and 8-1 in conference play. They also clinched at least a share of the 2025 North Coast Conference Title with the win as they now have a one game lead in the loss column with just one game remaining. CVCA will travel to Elyria Catholic on Tuesday night.

The Royals opened the scoring in the first on a solo home run from Jacob Lancy. In the second inning, the Royals would score three runs all with two outs. Jacob Lancy singled in Nik Wirsching. Ryan Wiehe singled in Jonah Gaudio and Lancy scored on a wild pitch. CVCA really open things up with 4 runs in the 3rd inning. Nik Wirsching singled in Zac Anderson and Alex Mammone scored on a Jonah Gaudio sacrifice fly. Nik Wirsching scored on a Ryan Wiehe fielders choice and Evan Wensel scored on the same play after an error. Jacob Lancy would homer again in the 5th inning to push the lead to nine. Thad Eaton delivered the walk-off sacrifice fly in the 6th inning as Alex Mammone scored the clinching run. The offensive outburst was more than enough for starting pitcher Kyle Shaw. He was excellent in this one allowing just 2 hits and no runs in six innings of work. She struck out 8 batters and only walked 1 to record his 4th win of the season.
