CVCA had two doubles teams compete at the District Tournament this past week. Lincoln Gates and Jonathan Van Hala entered the tournament as the #1 seed from the Wooster sectional. Ben Rekse and Dylan Scott came in as the #2 seed from the Wooster Sectional. Both teams went on impressive runs at the District Tournament and earned a trip to the State Tournament. 

Gates & Van Hala opened with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Chagrin Falls. They followed that up with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Geneva to advance to the District Semifinal. With a top 4 finish locked up, they were guaranteed at spot at the State Tournament. In the semifinal, Gates & Van Hala fell to Hawken 6-4, 6-1 and moved to the 3rd place match.

Reske & Scott came from behind to defeat Chagrin Falls 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 in an impressive opening round win. They followed that up with another 3 set victory, this time over Geneva (6-2, 3-6, 6-4). Reske & Scott were now state qualifiers as they advanced to the District Semifinal. They would fall to Hawken 6-1, 6-0 to move to the 3rd place match. 

It was an all CVCA battle for 3rd place. Gates & Van Hala were able to edge out Reske & Scott 6-2, 6-4 to claim 3rd place at the District Tournament. Both doubles teams will compete at the OHSAA Division II State Tournament this week at the College of Wooster.
