CVCA entered the Division II State doubles tournament having two of the final 16 remaining teams. That accomplishment is something never before accomplished in CVCA program history. To qualify for the state tournament, the doubles teams of Lincoln Gates/Jonathan Van Hala and Ben Reske/Dylan Scott played an excellent sectionals tournament, winning the championship and finishing as runners-up respectively. They also played an excellent district tournament, earning the 3rd and 4th place spots in the Northeast Ohio district. In their first round at states, Gates/Van Hala defeated their opponents, district champions from the East Ohio district, 6-0 6-1. Reske/Scott also defeated their opponents, district champions from the Southeast Ohio district 6-1 6-2. This put both CVCA teams into the quarterfinals. Two of the final eight teams in the state were Royals! Though both doubles teams lost their quarterfinal matches to the champions from the Central Ohio and Southwest Ohio districts, they earned an incredible achievement for themselves and for the CVCA tennis program. We are so grateful for such an amazing season culminating in a historic trip for two separate doubles teams to the state tournament!
