On Thursday, the CVCA baseball team hosted Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin for Senior Night. The Royals and Lions entered the game as the top two teams in the North Coast Conference. The story of this game senior John Harabedian's pitching. He was dominate form start to finish on this night. Harabedian tossed a 2-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts to lead CVCA to a 6-0 win. The Royals scored once in the first but didn't score again until the sixth. In the first inning, the Royals loaded the bases with no outs, but managed just one run on a sac fly by Ryan Wiehe. Another solid scoring chance went by the wayside in the 4th inning. CVCA finally broke through in the bottom of the sixth inning. Alex Mammone singled in Ryan Wiehe. Jonah Gaudio walked in Ryan Tajgiszer. Jacob Lancy singled in Thad Eaton and the Royals led 4-0. Connor McGough drove a double to right field that scored Gaudio and Lancy and the Royals led 6-0. Six runs proved more than enough behind Harabedian as he ended the game with his 11th strikeout. CVCA and NDCL will face off again on Friday, this time in Chardon.
