The CVCA boys soccer team traveled to Hawken on Saturday for their biggest test of the season. The Royals and Hawks both entered the game unbeaten and highly ranked in the state. Hawken had the home field advantage, but CVCA was ready for the challenge. Another early own goal by the Hawks gave the Royals the early lead. That score held up into halftime as the teams continued to battle. Just over 12 minutes into the second half of play, CVCA increased their lead. Nathan Miller buried shot in the bottom left corner of the goal past the diving goalie, and the Royals led 2-0. Any lead for the CVCA defense this season has been comfortable. The Royals secured their 11th shutout of the season in this game. They have allowed just 4 total goals in 14 games. With the 2-0 road victory, the boys remain unbeaten on the year with a record of 12-0-2. They will travel to Benedictine on Tuesday night and can secure the North Coast Conference championship with a win over the Bengals.
