The CVCA baseball team hosted Lake Catholic on Monday night in the first North Coast Conference game of 2026. The Royals started fast and led 6-0 at the end of two innings.
Jacob Lancy homered in the first inning to give the team an early 3-0 lead. CVCA added on in the 2nd inning when
Daniel Walker scored on a fielder's choice by
Jonah Gaudio.
Connor McGough doubled to score
Ryan Tajgiszer and
Jacob Lancy followed with a single to score McGough. Lake Catholic answered with 2 runs in the 3rd inning of play. The Royals moved back in front by six with 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning.
Connor McGough doubled in
Jonah Gaudio and later scored on a throwing error after stealing 3rd base. The visiting Cougars scored twice in the 6th but that as it. CVCA held on for an 8-4 victory to improve to 4-0 (1-0) on the season.
Alex Mammone,
Zeke Keating, and
Ben Pittner all threw well for the Royals with Keating picking up the win in relief. CVCA and Lake Catholic will play again on Tuesday at Lake Catholic.
