The CVCA baseball team hosted Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin on Monday. The Royals led 3-1 entering the 6th inning of play. They were unable to create a big inning as they scored once in the first, second, and fifth. Jacob Lancy doubled in Connor McCough, Layne Davis drove in Evan Wensel on a sacrifice fly, and McGough scored on a field error. In the 6th inning, things went south. The Royals defense committed multiple error to give NDCL a 4-3 advantage. The visiting Lions added 2 more runs in the 7th to lead 6-4. CVCA would score once in the 7th when Jacob Lancy again doubled in Connor McGough, but NDCL would secure victory one batter later. Kyle Shaw pitched well for the Royals as he allowed no earned runs over 5.2 innings. CVCA moves to 7-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play. They will travel to NDCL on Tuesday.
