The CVCA baseball team faced off against St. Vincent-St. Mary on Tuesday. The Royals and Irish met at the University of Akron for a battle between two strong teams. Despite some early chances, the CVCA offense as held scoreless through the first 4 innings of play. The Royals finally broke through with a 4 run 5th inning.
Jonah Gaudio opened the scoring with an RBI single that scored
Connor McGough.
Peyton Drabick then drove in
Jacob Lancy with a sacrifice fly. Three batters later, Gaudio scored on a wild pitch before
Zac Anderson singled in
Alex Mammone. Starting pitcher
Peyton Drabick was in a groove and perfect through 4 innings. He finished the game allowing just 2 runs and 3 hits while striking out 10 batters. The game ended when
Jacob Lancy snagged a line drive and doubled up the Irish runner off 3rd base. The 4-2 win improves CVCA's record to 15-6. The Royals will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Cuyahoga Falls.
