The CVCA baseball team traveled to Cuyahoga Falls on Wednesday to face the Black Tigers. The Royals rode a 12 run 4th inning to a big 5 inning win.
Connor McGough started the inning with a bunt single and later scored on a
Jacob Lancy single. Lancy would score on an RBI ground-out by
Peyton Drabick.
Jonah Gaudio scored the third run on a balk and
Alex Mammone scored the fourth run on a single by
Evan Wensel. Cuyahoga Falls then recorded the 2nd out of the inning and were looking to keep the game at 4-1. Instead the Royals exploded for 8 runs with 2 outs in the inning. After a
Layne Davis walk,
Connor McGough crushed a ball to dead center for a grand slam. The ball sailed well over the 375' sign despite the cold air and strong wind. The Royals quickly restarted the inning as
Jacob Lancy scored on a
Jonah Gaudio single after a double. Gaudio would later score on a wild pitch before
Alex Mammone singled in
Peyton Drabick.
Zac Anderson singled in
Alex Mammone to give CVCA a 12-1 lead.
Kyle Shaw picked up his 4th win of the year going all 5 innings allowing 2 runs while striking out 6. CVCA improves to 16-6 on the season. They will travel to North Royalton on Friday night to face a strong Bears team.
