The CVCA baseball team hosted Holy Name on Monday night in a rescheduled North Coast Conference contest. The Royals were able to jump on the Green Wave early in this game and never look back. A big nine run 2nd inning help lead CVCA to a 14-2 victory in 5 innings. The Royals scored two in the first inning when
Jacob Lancy smoked a line drive over the left field fence to score
Connor McGough. The team exploded for nine runs in the 2nd inning to take a commanding lead.
Evan Wensel singled to score
Zac Anderson and
Alex Mammone. Two batters later,
Connor McGough crushed a Grand Slam to left field that scored
Logan Kish,
Evan Wensel, and
Layne Davis.
Zac Anderson,
Logan Kish, and
Evan Wensel added 2 out RBI singles to push the lead to 11-0. Holy Name was able to score two runs in the top of the 3rd inning, but CVCA answered with three more runs in the bottom of the 3rd.

Alex Mammone doubled to drive in Gaudio and
Kyle Shaw later scored on a wild pitch.
Peyton Drabick pitched 4 innings for CVCA. He allowed just 1 hit and struck out 9.
Ryan Tajgiszer pitched the final inning and ended the game on with a 1-6-3 double play. With the win, the Royals move to 17-7 (7-4) on the season. They are set to travel to Lake Catholic on Tuesday night.
