The CVCA baseball team faced off against Shaker Heights on Saturday. The Royals and Raiders avoided the rain with a mid-day start and played on all turf at the University of Akron so field conditions weren't a problem. Both teams scored once in the first inning of play.
Connor McGough doubled with one out and scored on a single from
Jacob Lancy. CVCA moved in front with 2 runs in the 3rd inning.
Jonah Gaudio drove in McGough and Lancy with a double and the Royals led 3-1. Shaker Heights answered with 4 unearned runs in the 3rd inning. The Royals resopnded right back with 4 runs of their own in the 4th inning.

Connor McGough was hit by a pitch.
Logan Kish scored when
Jonah Gaudio walked.
Layne Davis scored on
Peyton Drabick's sacrifice fly and
Connor McGough scored on a double steal. In the 6th inning, CVCA added on. They scored 4 more times to push the lead to 11-5.

Peyton Drabick scored on wild pitches to cap the inning. In the top of the 7th inning,
Zeke Keating drove in
Bo Lanzilotta and
Jonah Gaudio with a triple to the right center field gap. Five Royals combined for the win on the mound allowing just 1 earned run while striking out 10. With the win, CVCA improves to 19-8 on the season. They will return to action on Tuesday when they host Northwest in the OHSAA Tournament.
