The CVCA baseball team hosted Norton on Thursday in non-conference play. The Royals and Panthers have both put together strong seasons thus far. CVCA scored first when
Layne Davis scored on a
Jonah Gaudio single in the first. Norton responded with 5 runs in the 2nd inning as the Royals had a few defensive miscues. CVCA moved closer with 2 runs in the 3rd inning.
Peyton Drabick singled in
Layne Davis and
Connor McGough later scored on a passed ball. Notron added an insurance run in the 6th with a solo home run to right field. The Royals trailed 6-3 entering the 7th inning.
Connor McGough led off with a single to start the Royals' rally. He would score on
Peyton Drabick double to make the score 6-4. Jonah Gadio singled and scored on a triple by
Zac Anderson. Anderson then scored the tying run on a wild pitch to force extra innings. After a scoreless 8th inning, the Royals dodge a lead off walk in the top of the 9th to remain tied.
Jonah Gaudio doubled with 1 out to put the tying run in scoring position for CVCA. After an intentional walk,
Zac Anderson singled hard up the middle for the walk-off win. The Royals bullpen came up huge in this game. They allowed just 1 run over 7 innings of work.
Ben Pittner pitched two scoreless, and
Logan Kish allowed one run across 3 innings of work.
Connor McGough pitched the 8th and 9th innings to pick up the win. CVCA is now 14-6 on the season. They will host Revere on Friday.
