The CVCA baseball team took on Chardon on Wednesday in an OHSAA Division III Regional Semifinal. The Royals and Hilltoppers played day baseball at Hudson with a spot in the Elite Eight on the line. The story of the game was CVCA's staring pitcher
Kyle Shaw. The senior left-hander shutdown Chardon on this day as e allowed just 1 hit in 6.2 innings of work. The Royals offense created chance, but struggled to get the big hit. They broke through in the 4th inning with 2 runs.
Zac Anderson singled on a pop fly behind 1st base that scored
Peyton Drabick.
Alex Mammone would add a run on a wild pitch to make it 2-0. That was more than enough for Shaw as he allowed very little solid contact. Mammone record the final out with runners on 1st and 2nd to secure the save. With the 2-0 win, CVCA advances to the Regional Final for the 2nd consecutive year. The Royals will face Hoban on Thursday, June 4th at 5:00pm at Hudson. The Knights defeated STVM 10-0 in their semifinal.
