CVCA opened up conference play at Tusky Valley on Friday night. The Royals were looking to pick up their first win of the season after a 0-3 start. Tusky Valley entered the game at 2-1. The Trojans and Royals would go back and forth throughout this Principals' Athletic Conference opener.
The Royals were able to strike first.
Jack Atwood intercepted a Trojans pass and returned it 51 yards for the score in the first quarter. A failed extra point try left the score at 6-0. That score would last through the end of the opening quarter.
Tusky Valley would grab the lead in the second quarter on 2 rushing touchdowns. Their touchdowns came in the form of a 91 yard run and a 1 yard run. They led 14-6. The Royals answered with another defensive touchdown. Senior
Jay Woodlee recovered a fumble and scampered 57 yards for the score. CVCA later added a 6 yard touchdown pass from
Brock Simmons to
Tre Tucker to regain the lead. They held a 20-14 led at halftime.Â
In the 2nd half, the Trojans were able to score on the ground again. They added rushing touchdowns in the 3rd and 4th quarter. The Royals were unable to find the end zone again on the night. Final Score: CVCA 20 - TV 27
CVCA will host Orrville on Friday, September 23rd. It will be homecoming for the Royals.
