Wednesday's cold and wind did not make for a great day for tennis. CVCA was scheduled to travel to Copley but the weather wouldn't allow it. Thankfully, the Royals were able to move the match indoors at Towpath Tennis Center. The boys came ready to play and earned a great 3-2 team win. Three matches went to 3 sets, and the Royals were victorious in two of those. Captain,
Cole Farren showed toughness to bounce back from a difficult 2nd set to close out a dominating 3rd set win. 2nd doubles provided a solid win. 1st doubles battled and kept intensity and effort all the way through, but was unable to close it out when they needed to. The highlight of the night, though was freshman
Alex Stout defeating a very good opponent in 3 hard fought sets. After starting out the 1st set down 3-1, Alex collected himself and successfully enacted the strategies he needed to win the next 5 games and take the set. After a difficult second set, he showed maturity and impressive mental strength to close out a third set where he controlled most of the points. It was a good first win for the team, and it is something that they will look to build on as they continue through the season.
