The CVCA football team made the long trip to Loudonville on Friday night for Week 9 of the season. The Royals were looking for a win to help secure a spot in the OHSAA State Playoff and setup a huge game at Manchester in Week 10. After a slow start, CVCA scored twice in the 2nd quarter to take a 14-0 lead into halftime.
Kyle Snider scored on a 1 yard touchdown run and
Michael Bevington added a 17 yard touchdown on the ground. Loudonville was able to score on the opening drive of the 2nd half. CVCA would answer with an explosion of 28 unanswered points. The Royals took advantage of 3 straight turnovers by the Red Birds and would win the game going away.
Kyle Snider scored on a 1 yard touchdown run.
Michael Bevington scored two 3rd quarter rushing touchdowns (3 yards & 33 yards) and connected with
Austen Williams on a 45 yard flea flicker that highlighted the run. The defense played very well on the night and was highlighted by two fumble recoveries (
JT Nichols &
Brant Simmons) and an interception (
Austen Williams). The final score was 42-15 in favor of the Royals. Week 10 will now feature one of the biggest games in program history. The Royals travel to Manchester with huge conference and playoff implications on the line. A win would give the Royals at least a share of the PAC-7 Championshp (first since 2011) and most likely secure a home playoff game (first time ever).
