To say the Royals started slow on Friday night would be putting it mildly. CVCA hosted a very talented West Branch team on Friday night and fell behind early. The visiting Warriors led 21-0 after one quarter of play and added an early 2nd quarter touchdown to go up by 28. It seemed like it just wasn't the Royals night, but they never believed that. After some back and forth, the Royals were able to cut the deficit to 20 at the half. After the break, CVCA rattled off three scores to gain a 43-42 lead. West Branch answered late in the third quarter and led 48-43. The Royals' ground attack just kept coming. Two scores later and CVCA led 58-48 with just under 2 minutes left. The Warriors were able to score and recover and onside kick with just seconds left. A last second attempt was no good and the Royals earned a 58-55 win to move to 8-3. CVCA's rushing attack racked up 515 yards on the night and the defense played great in the 2nd half allowing just 2 scores.
