The CVCA boys tennis finished off a tough first week of matches on a high note Friday, with a win against North Canton Hoover. Always a tough division 1 opponent, the Royals knew they'd need to bring it in order to come away with a win. Fortunately, they were up to the task, getting a hugely important victory. Wins came from the aggressive doubles play of partners
Ethan Stradtman and
Jacob Wodrich, as well as
David Van Hala and
Carson Reske. Impressively, the team of Van Hala/Reske went an undefeated 4-0 this week at second doubles in their varsity debuts. The final win, however, came dramatically from Senior captain,
Luke Thelander. Luke played out a very closely contested two sets, winning the first 6-4 and dropping the second 5-7. In the deciding set, Luke was down 4-1, but showed leadership, poise, and confidence to bounce back, taking the final set 7-5, and winning the match for CVCA. A great end to a high level week of tennis!
