The CVCA cross country teams competed at the Regional Tournament at Boardman High School on Saturday. Both the boys and girls teams were looking to qualify for the State Championships after strong showings at the District Tournament a week ago. The boys team finished as Regional Runner-Up with another impressive team showing. They scored 134 points on their way to 2nd place and will compete next Saturday at the State Championship. This is the 6th time the boys have qualified as a team for the State Championship. The girls team also earned a trip to State with their 4th place finish. They scored 160 points on the day. This is the 17th time the girls have qualified as a team for the State Championship. Senior Jayna Cooley is now one of just 5 girls to individually qualify to the state meet all four years of her career. The OHSAA will host their Cross Country State Championships at Fortress Obetz and Memorial Park on Saturday, November 2nd.
