After getting rained out midway through their opening match of the season against Hudson, the CVCA boys tennis team was happy to brave the cold temperatures and windy conditions to compete on Friday at Aurora. Though the conditions were not ideal, the boys sought to show their toughness against teh Greenmen by handling the conditions better than their opponents.
Lincoln Gates and
Jonathan Van Hala fought hard at first and second singles, but their opponents played very well to take those to courts for Aurora.
Alex Cook and the first doubles team of
Ben Reske and
Ezra Hallsten dominated their courts, adapting to the conditions and posting impressive 6-1, 6-2 wins. With the match tied 2-2, the team result came down to the second doubles court. The team of Junior
Dylan Scott and freshman
Andrew Van Hala were both playing in the very first varsity match of their careers. Despite the difficult conditions and their lack of varsity experience, they recovered from a 3-6 first set loss to complete the comeback 6-1 7-5, sealing the win for the Royals! With a 1-0 start to the season, the boys will look to build on this strong team win in the coming weeks.
