The CVCA boys tennis team entered Friday's match against Green High School 3-0 on the week, looking to add another strong performance to their remarkable start to the season. The Royals knew that this match was their last chance to test their strength before the weekend break, and they remained committed to focus and positivity from start to finish. Captain Jonathan Van Hala played a very high quality second singles match, but lost in a tight third set. Freshman Andrew Van Hala gave his best in his first varsity singles match, but came up short. Doubles continued their strong run, taking both courts from the Bulldogs. In their first match together, the second doubles combo of Alex Cook and Dylan Scott held off a very capable pair of opponents, winning 6-4 6-4. The first doubles duo of Ben Reske and Ezra Hallsten were pushed to the brink after their opponents countered a strong CVCA 6-1 first set with a 6-2 set of their own. CVCA rose to the challenge, showing their mental toughness to secure a 6-4 third set victory. The highlight of the match, though, goes to Lincoln Gates at first singles. Lincoln played an incredibly composed match, not allowing his opponent to gain almost any ground in a comprehensive 6-0 6-3 victory. This victory brings Lincoln to 4-0 at first singles on the week. The last time a CVCA first singles player went on a four match win streak at the top spot was in 2019. What a week for the Royals' number one player! With the 3-2 victory against another tough D1 opponent, the boys are now 6-1 on the season. They will look to keep up the momentum into another four match week!
