The CVCA girls lacrosse team made the short trip across the street on Tuesday night to Walsh Jesuit in the second round of the OHSAA Tournament. The 13th seeded Royals knew they were in for a challenge against the 2nd seeded Warriors. CVCA battled hard for all 48 minutes on Tuesday night. An early goal by Greta Bigham gave the Royals the lead. Walsh was able to pull even two minutes later and took the lead for good with 5:01 left in the first quarter. After a 2-1 first quarter, the Warriors were able to outscored the Royals 9-3 the rest of the way. Freshman Jules Youseffi scored the lone CVCA goal in the second quarter, as Walsh took a 5-2 lead into the halftime break. When Bigham converted an 8-meter free position opportunity in the first minute of the second half, the Royals were right back in it. The Walsh defense locked down the Royals and systematically stretched the lead to its final 11-4 margin over the remainder of the game. Bigham ended up with three goals and an assist to go with three draw controls. Freshman goalie Avery Ucker stopped five Walsh shots as the Royals closed the book on a 9-4 season. With the entire varsity roster set to return, the girls have high expectations heading into the 2027 season.
