The CVCA football team traveled to Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School on Friday night for Week 1 of the 2026 season. The Royals and Bees played a scoreless first quarter as defense was the story early. Brecksville was able to hit two big plays late in the 2nd quarter and took a 14-0 lead into halftime. The third quarter went by with out any points being scored. With just over eight minutes left in the game, CVCA finally broke through. Tommy Kopec scored on 4th and goal from the 2 yard line and the Royals were on the board. After trading possessions, the Royals were able to force another punt to get the ball back again. That punt was a good one, however, and CVCA was left with 98 yards to go. A few plays later, Brecksville secured a safety and moved back in front by two scores. 16-7 would be the final score in this contest as the Royals fall in the season opener. CVCA will be back in action on Friday night when they host Canton South.
